Pizzo
Pizzo is known for its beautiful beaches, but also for its castle, built by Ferdinand I of Aragon in the second half of XV century. It is also known as the Murat Castle, for the failed attempt of the king of Naples to instigate the local population against Ferdinand IV of Bourbon.
A suggestive place of worship is the church of Piedigrotta, carved in tufa stone, by the sea. The countless sculptures and furniture were also carved in tufa.
The visit of the church give a unique experience, especially in the afternoon hours, when the sunlight enters into the church thus enhancing the beautiful colours of the tufa stone
