Riserva Statale Marchesale
La Riserva Statale Marchesale, is a very important naturalistic site, visitors can reach it from the Mongiana-Laureana provincial road from Borrello.
The area occupies 1.257 hectars and is 1.170 metres high, on the slopes close to the river Mesina and Mount Arrugiato.
This area goes down from Mount Arrugiato to the valley, it is rich of springs and streams like the Trebboina, Acqua Bianca and Petriano, and ponds. The vegetation is characterized by chestnuts and beeches.
Local fauna incudes wild boars, martens, polecats, weasels, moles, foxes and hares but also species of birds like the sparrow-hawks, buzzards, wild doves, woodpeckers, orioles and missel-trushes
